I knew about the SBT for a long time before I actually bought one. In truth while I had wanted a music server I was a little in the dark about setting up networks and all the problems that could arise.
I should not have worried I had the SBT installed in my music room and playing directly in to my system within 15 minutes of opening the box and much of the delay was because i could not remember my password for the LMS .
The sound via the digital output in to my Dac was excellent . A little research and the instalation of the Toolbox 3.0 and the sound was not just good but the best digital sound I had ever heard from my system. Even better that from my Theta CD transport which was not cheap.
Having experienced the SBT and what it can do I will not be going back to CD now my only problem is the amount of time it is going to take me to rip all of my collection to HD . This is a great product at a very good price it is not as difficult to install as it seems and once installed it is as easy to use as your iPod .

I use mine with Vortexbox software. I re-used some PC bits and bought a 1GB drive. All my CDs have been copied to FLAC format and sound great. I still love my vinyl but a Squeezebox is great for Digital. No need to buy a high end CD player.
The sound quality is excellent. The interface is a bit clunky but the remote is a good way to use it.
I can control it from any of any of my networked PCs/laptops and I'm sure your Android tablet or iPad would be a good way to go.
I can hide away all my CDs which pleases my wife!

Hopefully this review will get posted. My previous one didn't. I was looking forward to my Touch arriving but the software issues ruin it. (1) You cannot use it on any NAS drives - only specific ones. This is misleading. (2) This means you have to leave your PC on - not very green (3) The software means that your PC takes forever to start up (4) The podcast option doesn't work - 404 message.
If Logitech can fix the above then it will do the product justice - if not they are letting themselves down. Sound quality is good. Internet radio is good...but as mentioned, streaming is compromised, I'll still probably buy another squeezebox so that I can play the same tunes around the house..but come on Logitech, make a bit of effort and make this product great. At the moment it's like running an engine with no oil - so please smooth things out with some proper development work.

I've not even had it for a day yet but well impressed. Small, compact, but solid build and attractive. Loads of features and the sound quality is stunning when played through some decent speakers. Interface is a bit fiddly to run on the touch screen at times but easy enough if you're used to a modern phone. The iPad/iPhone app is amazing though. Linking the SqueezeBox to the network and HomeServer was all automatic.
However, for non-techies the server software could take a bit of setting up. I have an HP HomeServer and had to trawl through a raft of web pages to get there. The instructions are pretty dismall and the address in the installer for the required C++ runtime libraries is wrong but once I found it all it took less than an hour to load and configure. Having pointed it to my music library and scanned it, the server looks after itself. Use the main Logitech application to set things up and not the settings page in the HomeServer as the instructions suggest.
Brilliant product overall. I'll be buying at least one or two more!

I have just had the touch for one week. It is a very good product for the price, and internet radio streaming was excellent. I really enjoyed that aspect of this product. The control interface is a bit clunky, but you get used to it.
It's real weak spot is the library software. when connecting large music libraries to the USB port ( 500GB hard drive) the touch crashed repeatedly after two or more hours of slowly listing the contents. There was no problem with my iPod so I suspect this is just a size issue. Logitech should specify the size limit for external drives that the touch can be expected to handle. if the software was updated to sort these issues the touch would be remarkable good valu for money.
If you just want to stream internet radio in your living room it is perfect.

I really like this product, however I think it would be great if you added an integrated camera and a skype application so that the device could be used to skype people. I guess a microphone would be needed too.

Squeezebox Touch is 5 star all round. BUT there are two sides to using it - the client (Touch) and the server that delivers the music stream. Squeezebox Server software is the worst consumer software application I've used for at least 15 years. Slow, primitive, surreal in its idiosyncracy and impossible to predict what it will do next time you try and work with it. The web interface is an interesting return to 1970s computing for those folks who weren't there at the time but you will age noticeably whilst waiting for it to load - just like old times. When you manage to get the database sorted and SQ server chugging then the overall system is just great. I have 2 Touch clients and a Netgear ReadyNAS server combo on a gigabit Ethernet - wouldnt swap them for the world. But WHAT and effort to get it going - and I really like computers.

I don't usually bother with writing reviews, partly because so much modern technology is so poorly specified and user unfriendly.
Squeezebox is absolutely wonderful. Easy to setup and use. Works like a dream straight out of box. Choose language and input router password and away you go. Excellent touch screen, so easy to use.

I've had the Touch for 3 weeks and now have 4,000 FLAC files (90Gb) on a local USB hard drive. My music plays well, with no drop-outs or pauses. There can be a few minutes delay when the drive is attached with new music and the music/artwork is scanned, but this isn't a problem.
Great replacement for my CD player. Sounds every bit as good, easier to browse and lots of online services too.

I've had the Touch for about 4 weeks and have a music library of about 45,000 MP3s. I'm using a powered 1Tb 2.0 USB storage device connected to the Touch via the USB interface. It constantly loses the connection to the USB and has huge delays in scrolling my music library. Great UI, great way to scroll thru music, too slow and unreliable. The remote needs to be able to operate the same way as the Touch, it need to be able to handle large libraries and Logitech needs to inform customers of the product's limitations in the marketing literature.
