The mouse feels comfortable in the hand and is reassuringly weighty but immediately I spun the scroll wheel I knew I had made the wrong purchase. Instead of a smooth and comfortable ride, it seemed Christmas cracker quality. Also it loses function occaisionally in that I am unable to scroll without logging off and on again. While this mouse is advertised as lasting up to three years on one set of bateries, I fully expect the wheel to cave in long before that.

Has problems tracking
Date:07 January 2013
This mouse was having problems tracking on a slightly glossy wood desk top. Had to use a mouse pad. Everything else was great but its primary function failed on me. I then tried a Performance MX that works flawlessly on the same surface.

Great mouse
Date:20 August 2012
This mouse really changed my PC experience. I don't need a mousepad anymore, IKEA table is a great surface for the mouse, and the mousewheel allows me to scroll through countless pages in seconds. I'm really amazed how Logitech made the mouse so energy-efficient, looks like it doesn't consume energy at all. After all those wireless mice that suck up batteries in a day or two, this is a big relief.
PS. I still don't understand the purpose of the lower button under thumb.

Awesome

I got this thing of beauty for only $20 at Costco! (On sale from $26) It's lightning fast response and great battery life trumps all those Microsoft bluetrakcers. Best Value Mouse Ever!

one little problem
Date:22 April 2012
Mouse is brilliant in all aspects except one: it's laser is located not on the centre of the mouse bottom but close to pinky finger, off to the side. Depending on your hand movements, this will affect the movement of the cursor. In worst case scenario, any rotational movement around top right mouse part will result in no mouse movement at all! I found I was constantly having aiming issues with this mouse and opening wrong icons on taskbar. This mouse is not intended for power users (but might be fine for light Internet browsing etc.). I've got Microsoft Business Hardware Pack mouse (wired) and I'm happy again.

Outstanding mouse

This mouse does practically everything you could want. However, Logitech's website could give you a bit more information. E.g. it actually has six buttons: the three main ones, and three on the side. There is a "hidden" button below your thumb which you cannot feel, but you press down to use. This is well designed and you are not likely to press it by accident. The "button" you can see behind the scroll wheel is actually to switch between free-wheel scrolling where the wheel spins freely and ratchet scrolling where you feel little clicks as you scroll. The free-wheel scrolling is brilliant, however there is a tendency for the screen to wobble up and down if you do not engage the ratchet, but this is only while you have your finger on the wheel. Overall, it is very responsive and comfortable. It works right out the box just by plugging in the receiver. However, if you download the Logitech software then you can remap all the buttons (except the freewheel/ratchet button - that feels mechanical rather than electronic) and fine tune scrolling, mouse speed etc.

Good mouse but...
Date:07 April 2011
My only disappointment was with the accomodation for the receiver - on the vx revolution (which this mouse replaced) the receiver slotted in to a space on the rear of mouse. Inserting and removing the receiver would also switch the mouse on and off. While the M705 does have a slot for the receiver, it is hidden underneath the battery cover and there is no auto on / off feature (possibly due to it's unifying feature, I believe the mouse can work with a different receiver, perhaps a keyboard in which case you might want the mouse on even with it's own receiver docked). In summary, the mouse works well, at least as well as the vx, but it's a pity they changed how the receiver is stored...

Wouldn't want any other mouse!
Date:12 February 2011
I have been using this mouse for about a year now. And the three year battery time doesn't seem to be a lie! I am a gamer and use my mouse daily. For many hours. And after roughly a year now my battery time tells me I have 783 days left on my batteries.
The only reason I would want another mouse if this one breaks down, which is unlikely, or if there will be a new model of this one with even more awesome features.

Great mouse packed with features
Date:03 December 2010
Needing to reduce cluter and be easy to use on the move were my main criteria for looking at the unifying mice.
Having perviously had a wireles mouse with the large dongle the unifying receiver was ideal for use with a laptop.
I have quite large hands so notbook mice are to small for continued use and the larger performance mouse was just to big in a laptop bag.
The M705 stuck the perfect balance for size and practicality.
The buttons are positive and the ability to change the scroll wheel from click to smooth scroll with a switch mounted on the top of the mouse is very useful as is the thumb button and side scrolling.
The fact that it uses standard "AA" batteries is also a bonus as once they run out they can be replaced easily, saying that I still have 90% left after a years intensive office use.
In summary a great portable product packed with features that is very comfortable to use for extended periods.

Could have been brilliant
Date:16 November 2010
The scroll wheel is great and the added features will be of interest to many even though I only want to use the basic ones. Unfortunately I have found this mouse to be the most uncomfortable mouse to use ever. I have resorted to using blue tack to stick the casing from my old mouse onto the back of this one, and now it is comfortable to use, but looks ridiculous.
