I bought this for replacing a similar older unit which my child broke (the Ipod connector). I use it for 3 weeks already, and find it very powerful for it's size and weight (especially low frequencies on mains power).
Good points: Size/weight/sound power and clarity/remote/carrying pouch
To be improved (hoping for better): As it is a portable unit, some carrying handle on the unit or at least on the carrying pouch would be welcome.
I had some connection glitches at the beginnning with a 5-th gen Ipod but within minutes I found the problem. I use a plastic hard cover for the Ipod for avoiding scratches and found out that the new universal connector which now does'nt include anymore different "trays" is not happy with that. I removed the Ipod cover as I use it only on the dock. Everything is Ok now and I'm trying to deplete a few times the internal batteries in order to measure their autonomy.

What's in the box?!
I needed a dock system for my garage so that when I was car cleaning or doing other DIY related tasks I could have some tunes to remove the silence. It needed to be compact so I could drag it off on holiday in the suitcase.
Initially I purchased one of the small house party docks which was nigh on £50. Two minutes out of the box and it was re-packed, and I headed straight back to the shop to exchange it as it just sounded like a swarm of angry wasps.
As it was going in the garage I didn't want anything too flash or pricey, but this dock was on offer on Amazon so I decided to take a punt and hoped it was smaller than it looked.
When it arrived it was very slightly larger than I'd hoped (imagine 6 iPod Touch sat upright side by side), but as soon as I turned it on what a revelation! Now don't get me wrong, we have a Dynaudio 5.1 cinema system in our lounge driven by a state of the art Onkyo receiver, so I'm not suggesting this is anywhere near hi-fi, but the sound it makes against comparative priced docks is pretty unbelievable. It has a depth and presence way beyond its footprint or dimensions, and as it continues to run in some of the spikness in the treble is calming and the bass is smoothing out so it just keeps getting better.
In the box there is a carry case which is basically a thin bag so offering scratch protection as opposed to dent. Also the power cable has UK and Euro interchangeable plug heads so great for travel. As a point of note it says in instructions that this unit offers upto 8 hours of battery playback, but when you change over to battery you notice a drop off in bass and volume so I'm assuming the rear facing sub drivers are excluded from the party when the batteries are called upon. Sound however is still acceptable, just a tad waspier!
My only real complaint with these docking systems is the lack of stereo imaging assuming you were to use it as your main hi-fi system. With all the drivers being so closely located you will always get a very tight soundstage that lacks a real sense of depth or projection, but for less than £80 anyone moaning about it needs to get a grip. Some of the consumer reviews I read on these leave you wondering what people expect for less than £100!
To compare with other docks, we also have an Altec Lansing T612 and a B&W Zepplin. Yes the Zepplin has it licked in all areas bar portability, but then it was 4 times the price, and it's arguably not 4 times the quality. The Altec Lansing was £119 (sale price) and I'd say the sound from it lacks the accuracy of the Logitec which manages to resolve the midrange frequencies exceptionally well. The Altec has slightly more bass when shoved right against a wall, but the Logitech is far less fussy with its positioning and provides a more realistic sound across the board.
Given the size of the drivers the Logitech 715 does a good job with bass, and if its sounding slightly overblown make sure it's not positioned right in a corner of flat up against a wall. I find with these units positioning is key to getting a good sound, and often more effective than the Apple EQ presets.
My only disappointment as such was that there is not special app from Logitech to bring additional finctionality to the party (e.g. an apps that brings together music, internet radio and skins). For now I'll continue with 'Music/iPod', and TuneIn Radio apps.
Kit wise this worked fine / charged my iPhone 4, and I tried my Gen 1 iPod Touch and the only slightly negative aspect on that was the volume control was a bit sketchy with the older device (you are better off using the iPod screen volume instead of device / remote for gen1 iPod - same on Zepplin and Altec Lansing we have). Other than this all else was good.
I guess the best way to present the Logitech S715i is that when you consider it is a very portable, rechargeable, iPod/Phone charging, remote controlled, universal docking sound system it offers exceptional value for money. To provide further context the Apple universal docking base / remote costs £50 with no speakers which shows what incredible value this is (if you internet shop especially).
I have a few Logitech products, all of them good (Playstation wheel / web cam / mouse). The S715i is another that I'd happily give a hearty recommendation providing you keep in mind it's a portable solution and not a main hi-fi system for a large lounge etc. As a secondary room solution it's ideal.

Well I have read the reviews and even heard it demo'd in the shop. Initially sounds very good much better than most docks of the same price. Now that I have the unit and listening at home, I am a little disappointed, the bass is a little too full, maybe even bloated. Also there is a little too much boxiness to the sound. I am left wondering if the sound will change as the speakers run in. Listening to processed pop and rock the sound is engaging with plenty of detail. Moving to acoustic music or classical the bass and boxiness can be come tiring. I would say this is a good second system for bedrooms, kitchens, work etc. It is solidly built, portable and that is what counts it's ability to go anywhere and fill a space with sound. It is an improvement on the Pure-fi Anywhere 2 in terms of build quality and sonic performance. Think that the mid range could do with a little bit more laser tuning and taming of the bass then the S715i would truely sit head and shoulders above the rest.

These speakers are very nice and the sound quality is very good. However, there is a bit too much bass. An equalizing function would be nice. The speakers have a good build quality, too, but the stand at the back is a bit flimsy. I needs to be pushed in quite hard, otherwise the device will fall over. Maybe this should be made clearer in the instructions.

This product is great! I unpacked it, plugged it in to charge up the battery, placed my iphone on top, and that was it! Easy! It even comes with a cute little remote control which enables me to skip, rewind, shuffle, repeat and turn the volume up and down. It also comes with a travel pouch which means I can take it anywhere and play all my songs where and when I want to. This is a fantastic product, it's just as loud as my CD player, and more convenient as I don't have to keep changing the CD all the time, making it ideal for parties. I can place it in any room in the house as it works with a rechargeable battery or off the mains and It doesn't run down my phone battery, it charges it! Brilliant!

this Iphone speaker system is fantastic, this opens up a whole new set of possibilities for the IPhone, as I don't have an IPad or IPod I cannot say for these but if it is anywhere near as good as for the IPhone then it will be great to own. The sound quality is second to none and is easy to use and I can even listen to the audio books on my IPhone. Would definately, buy this item.
