Bought this as a replacement to a very old Philips webcam.
Camera itself is just great and was way smaller than I had imagined it would be from the publicity pics. Nicely made and compact.
Drivers install OK, as does the utility to use the cam as a sort of CCTV with it's Motion Detection software. Those things work and work well.
Now, the downside - Follow My Face and Face Mask software will NOT install nor work correctly under Windows 7 x64bit. The reason being that a service & drivers needed to make both work will not install / register with Windows correctly and trying to use the Face Mask software results in an error message to the effect that "Your Logitech Webcam does not support this feature - please install a compatible Logitech webcam".
Have followed every step to the letter as suggested by Logitech's support people and we're still trying get it working 2 weeks later ( all fresh installs of Vista, W7 and W7x64 ) to no avail. Then the kicker - after 2 weeks, customer support sent the following email :
It's not so much that the files themselves are missing but that the service cannot be started, most likely because there's something in the system preventing it from starting. We haven't had much luck trying to identify the culprit of this error in the past.
.. even though none of the .dll files nor the service module is actually in the installer pack ( extracted to trawl through files ) and therefore don't get installed. This has been a known issue since as far back as 2009 from what I can see, so why they advertise this software as working and fully compatible with Vista and W7 is beyond me.
If you have kids who are looking forward to being able to mess around with their faces whilst chatting to Gran, or need the facetracking software as a must have, then this cam isn't for you. I got the equivalent MS HD webcam and all it's features and software installs and runs perfectly. Why this is beyond Logitech's driver people is a mystery to me.
Kudos to the patient customer support guy I have been dealing with.
Kudos to Logitech for such a great webcam.
Major FAIL BOAT to the Logitech driver team who seem little concerned with making the webcam work to it's full potential.

Possibly the best laptop accessory I have ever purchased.
Had it out of the box and up and running in minutes, literally. Was on my first Skype call within ten minutes of receiving it.
The image & sound quality are spot-on. Can't go wrong. I've seen it from another PC too and the image it sends and the refresh rate are flawless. Honestly, for the money (or even money no object), this is probably the best webcam money can buy. I don't see the need to spend any more. This is as good as it gets.
