Wireles Solar Keyboard for Mac

Date:27 November 2012
Like the design but don't like the idea that I have use an USB port on my mac just to use it. You really should consider offering this model as Bluetooth device

It's solar - I'll forgive a lot for that

Date:28 September 2012
The build quality - it's very acceptable for the price. Solar panels are expensive, even diddy ones.
No Bluetooth? My Bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse were forever losing the connection when the battery got low. I'm typing this with a red warning light, with no loss of connection and no warning messages. Actually, I just put it in the window for one minute (I timed it) after typing that last sentence. Now I have a green light again. I'll forgive a lot for that alone.
Worked almost right out of the box - a few minutes in a window to charge it up.
As an experienced office typist I love the feel of the keyboard.
Works well even when the battery warning light is red, with no annoying messages and loss of signal. You can turn it off and then on again without losing the connection.
A few niggles - no caps lock light, which is annoying and why I didn't give quality a full score. . And that F2 F3 brightness keys problem will drive me nuts until I can make them work properly. That's the main reason I didn't give features full marks. The pull out feet could be sturdier, perhaps.
But all in all I love it. It responds as well as a wired keyboard and you forget it's running on a battery, it feels good to type on and for those features alone I'll forgive the other niggles.
Now I want a solar mouse or trackpad. Soon. Make one - please.

Good, but not great.

Date:03 April 2012
This is an expensive keyboard. I would have expected it to be well tested and robust before shipping to market.
I love the feel, size, key action, solar charged.
I don't like:
1) The afterthought of a Fn key, in a strange position on the keyboard (where the insert key should be). Where's the QC??
2) No tiny LEDs to let me know when the number lock or caps lock is active (surely this wouldn't drain battery, or could have some sleep function)
3) The F3 key doesn't work to show all windows
4) The control panel and customisation is rubbish and doesn't let you customise anything...
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice keyboard. I was just a little let down given how much it cost...

Love this keyboard!

Date:12 March 2012
I love this keyboard. It's lightweight, works great, has all the Mac keys in the right places, doesn't need any batteries. The only negative point is that it's not Bluetooth, which means that it has to take up one of the precious two USB slots on my MacBook Pro. I would willingly pay an extra £10 or whatever for a Bluetooth version.

Poor build quality

Date:14 February 2012
I like the idea of a keyboard without batteries but unfortunately the build quality is really poor. The keyboard looks very cheap and plastic. Nothing like an Apple keyboard. The silver is poorly stuck on and lifts off between the keys. The keyboard isn't even flat so when you type letters in the middle of the keyboard the whole thing bends until it touches the desk (and I don't really have heavy fingers). Overall, very disapointing and feels like something purchased for a quarter of the price.

Great Keyboard

Date:03 January 2012
I'm very pleased, overall, with this keyboard. It is functioning well, even in low light conditions. It should pay for itself fairly quickly as I always got through quite a number of batteries.
Very easy to set up and downloading the Solar App was very straightforward. Absolutely no need for a CD download which would probably just add to the cost and eventually add to the number of CD's being disposed of.
I only have one irritation. That the Shift key does not have a light to let you know when it's capitalised, this can be annoying especially when inputting passwords. The Mac wireless keyboard has a light so why couldn't this? The only other little niggle is that the support feet are a bit flimsy. I feel that they could snap fairly easily. Other than that, thanks Logitech, a good product.

Nice keyboard

Date:23 October 2011
Good well made keyboard bought as a replacement for the apple wireless keyboard. Has a very good wireless range holding a solid connection from many feet away. The battery charges perfectly in a room with blinds semi-closed and placed away from the window.
No software included in box so have to download the Solar and Unify apps if desired, which is not a big deal but seems odd not to include a disc. There are no lights to show the status of caps lock etc, although this is pretty normal with a battery powered keyboard as it helps battery life.
With regards to the comments from Zorko17, yes it probably should be a universal app, but all it does is show the battery charge and light level so it is not a huge miss without it, and it has all the features that are on the official keyboard, so I am not sure what vital features it is missing...none that apple themselves consider vital it seems. Would be nice if it had the same preferences options that the older Logitech keyboard did, but it still works and does all that an apple keyboard does without it.
Doesn't really give you anything the apple keyboards don't already provide, but would recommend if looking for a replacement for one as it is nice looking and is well made.

A great companion for your Mac

Date:17 October 2011
I bought this to use with my 2011 MBP and 27" Thunderbolt Display to provide the ultimate portable to desktop combo.
I love the ergonomics, it's a lovely keyboard to use, it functions really well and the solar/battery system works well.
It has replaced my Apple Bluetooth keyboard, and other than the build quality of the Apple, it easily outperforms it.
If I have one comlplaint, I'd prefer the folding feet to be more robust.

Great Mac Keyboard

Date:14 October 2011
Identical key layout to the aluminium Apple wired keyboard and works exactly as I would expect a keyboard for a Mac to work including all the function keys for Expose, brightness, volume etc. Very solidly built and the battery charges without problem. Only thing to make it better would be if it was Bluetooth as the USB dongle does mean that one of the Mac's limited supply of USB ports is used up.

Disappointed

Date:04 October 2011
This keyboard at first glance looks sleek, posh and oozes quality, however has some major deficiencies. Firstly whilst it is advertised as supporting OS/X 10.5, the software (SolarApp) is NOT compiled on a UNIVERSAL platform, so any user out there with an older Mac (Power PPC) can not benefit from the application that allows you to keep track of the rechargable battery. There is no obviously visible Caps Lock/Num Lock, and all the items that Mrs Rollins has raised as major missing features are for a MAC user a vital feature that most users would wish to see on a compatible keyboard for their Mac. A lot of MAC users probably have upgraaded to Intel processors and can run the Solar App, however a huge number of users probably still use Power PC Macs for general day to day use (Internet, eMail, Word Processing etc). Clearly Logitech need to revisit this keyboard and do some upgrading before it becomes a viable compatible replacement.

K750 solar keyboard for Mac

Date:24 September 2011
I am extremely disappointed with this product. Having previously owned a S530 keyboard/mice combintion for Mac, I am dismayed to find that the K750 has none of its features. There are no dedicated launch keys for the internet, iTunes or iPhoto. Three of the function keys are assigned to sound and two to brightness, why? Worse still you cannot map the keyboard. In word processing, you will not be able to use F7 to spell check or F8 to highlight.
You cannot just add the command key and claim it is Mac compatible. Where is the functionality? In fact, I really cannot understand how this keyboard was allowed into the market without road testing. Back to the drawing board, Logitech and please get the opinion of some Mac users.
