A joy to use. Flywheel scroll wheel is terrific for long documents. I operate with pointer speed set high and mouse works well in limited space. New slide switch works well. Glass compatibility handy for occasional use in hotel bars...

Upgrade has messed up product

This was a reasonable replacement for the much loved vx nano but it has been "upgraded" with a terrible GLOSS finish. Who ever thought up that as an "improvement"

The mouse has the right weight; buttons are clicky without being stiff; the body construction is of high quality; the tracking is perfect, even on difficult surfaces; the auxiliary buttons are well-placed, and well thought-out.

Excellent design and quality

I use a mouse for hours a day every day and I've worn many of them out. I've spent ages in stores trying the demo ones and buying various models.
The scroll wheels on Microsoft's mice keep breaking and become unresponsive. They have mice with a single AA battery, bluetrack, convenient holders for the receiver and easy on/off switches, which are great features but the quality control is terrible. I figured their touch mice would solve the issues with the scroll wheel but they are even worse. Their touch scrolling on some models acts like a page down button so on a fast setting, it just jumps down blocks at a time and the sensitivity is so poor that you can get hand strain very quickly.
I was originally put off by the clicking wheel on Logitech mice as I need my middle mouse button in certain software packages for panning around and this gets remapped to the button behind the wheel. I was able to adapt no problem to clicking the button instead of the wheel and I actually prefer it this way now because you can't accidentally scroll when pressing it.
The scroll wheel quality is great and I use both modes. I'd rather not have to click the wheel to go between each mode and that it just became more free scrolling the faster I scrolled but still, it has a good acceleration curve for both scrolling and pointer movement with it being a mobile mouse.
I use the mouse on a cloth surface and Darkfield works the same as the Bluetrack mice - no stuttering or locking. The cover over the laser provides an easy-to-access on/off switch.
The only criticisms would be that 2x AA batteries make the mouse heavier than I'd like. I'd prefer a single AA. There also isn't a convenient holder for the receiver on the outside so if you have to move the mouse between computers, you'd have to unclip the bottom every time.
I know Logitech already has a touch mouse but I'd like to see the matte black design of this mouse (not the newer version) with the center metal part possibly coated with glass and no buttons. It would still be clickable but a capacitive touch strip that can scroll in any direction. That can get rid of the scroll wheel, the button behind it and the two side buttons because you'd just do a two-finger swipe to go back/forward.
Overall, the build quality is excellent with the Anywhere MX and I would highly recommend it. You can get cheaper mice but chances are you'll have to keep on replacing them.

Perfect Mouse

I bought one of these mice for regular long plane flights and it hs never let me down. I always leave the USB plug in the computor because it is so small and even when flying at 50,000 feet or on the underground in London this always works.
The distribution of the buttons across the mouse is very ergonomically designed and they are very easy to get used to and use.
If anyone is looking at this product and saying "I want a cheaper one, £49.99 is too much for me" I would say this is a Rolls Royce with a Ford price tag!!

Great mouse 99% of the time
Date:31 May 2012
I got this as a replacement for an easycall desktop mouse whose left button decided it would always double click. I like logitech and this is my fifth mouse of theirs (some bought for others).
No bother whatsoever setting it up on my Dell laptop with Windows 7. Worked straight out of the box. Quite a heavy mouse, but feels really good. Love the button placing, the scroll and left/right scroll in spreadsheets is wonderful. The software is solid and gives me more options than i need.
My only gripe is the hyper scrolling at some times. Every so often, the software/hardware will decide that it is going to scroll a lot. When I think I have finished scrolling, it still jitters up and down the screen, often taking what I want off the screen. Usually it settles down after 10 minutes or so, but occasionally I have had to restart the laptop.
The darkfield works very well on all sorts of surfaces. The only surface that has had it confused is a marble kitchen top that has reflective chips of silica in, but I would have been amazed if it had worked perfectly on that.
